Board Meetings
The Fountain-Fort Carson School District Board of Education typically meets on the last Wednesday of each month. Meetings are subject to change if two or more board members cannot attend or school is not in session.
To verify meeting dates, contact the Administration office, or contact Shiona Nash, Administrative Assistant to the Board of Education.
Meetings are held in the Board Room at the Administration Building located at 10665 Jimmy Camp Road in Fountain. Meetings begin at 6:00 p.m.

Tom Downing, President
Term: 2011-2015
|
Tom Downing was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Gross Point North High School. Tom served our country as a fire fighter in the Air Force until he retired after twenty years of service. Tom has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and Human Resource Management from the community college in the Air Force. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration specializing in Technical Management from Wayland Baptist University. In addition, he also has a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Tom arrived in Fountain when his Air Force unit transferred him to Fountain in 1998. Tom Downing is currently enjoying a career in Real Estate with The Platinum Group. He loves serving as the President on the District Eight Board of Education and is very passionate about the city of Fountain. He has been married to Lacene Downing for twenty plus years and has two children, Michael and Ashley. Michael and Ashley are both graduates of Fountain-Fort Carson High School and were blessed to attend elementary through high shool in the District. Tom is someone who truly cares for the people and the community. He is a raving fan of District Eight and excited to serve on the Board.

Dawn Bentley, Vice President
Term: 2009-2013

Dawn Bentley is a native to Fountain and a 1985 graduate of School District Eight. Mrs. Bentley’s parents attended Fountain-Fort Carson High School. Her four children; Dustin, Kyra, Zachary, and Keith, all attend School District Eight. Mrs. Bentley currently serves as Vice President on the Fountain Fire Department Auxiliary and the Treasurer of the Fountain Police Activities League. Mrs. Bentley currently works at the Fountain Police Department as a Records Technician and Emergency Services Dispatcher. Her interests include NASCAR, family history and spending time with family. |

Jill Grubbs, Treasurer
Term: 2011-2015

Jill Grubbs has lived in Fountain since 1995, and enjoys the community and family atmosphere of our City and School District Eight. Having grown up in southern California and moving to the Colorado Springs area in 1978, she feels Fountain is an ideal place to live and raise children. Jill has been married to Don for 17
years and has three stepchildren who graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson School District and currently has six grandchildren attending school within the District. Jill is the Administrative Assistant for the Fountain Fire Department and loves spending her spare time with her husband and three Scottish terriers. |

Suzanne Foster, Director
Term: 2009-2013

Suzanne Foster has lived in Fountain since 1973. She attended District Eight from grade first thru twelve and is a 1985 graduate of Fountain-Fort Carson High School. In 1987, Suzanne received her Associate's Degree from Pikes Peak Community College in Dental Assisting. She also received an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from Pueblo Community College in 1990. Suzanne and her husband have a son who attends School District Eight. The Foster family chose to live in Fountain because they feel it is the best place to establish roots and raise their son. Suzanne works part-time as a Dental Hygienist. She also serves on the Heritage Maintenance District. Her interests include camping, photography, Colorado history and spending time with her family. |
Dale Terrell, Director
Term: 2011-2015

Dale Terrell was born and raised in rural, west-central Wisconsin. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended the University of Wisconsin- River Falls where he majored in Agriculture Education and Industrial Technology. He attended three years before enlisting in the United States Army. Dale served over 20 years in the military, travelling to Korea, West Germany, Fort Riley, Kansas, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and arrived at Fort Carson, Colorado in August 1985. After retiring from the army, he spent the next 17 years in the Fountain-Fort Carson School District initially teaching computers at Jordahl Elementary and eventually becoming a part of the district technology team. While establishing his home in Fountain, Colorado, Dale became an impetus behind the establishment of Fountain Valley Baseball Association, leading as its president for 18+ years. In 2010, Dale retired from District 8 as lead computer technician. His wife of 38 years, Rose, is a special needs teacher at Carson Middle School. Their children, David and Christina, both graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson High School. Currently, their grandson, David, Jr., attends Carson Middle School. Dale continues to be active in Colorado Baseball as a district commissioner and in the Fort Carson Chapel programs as Finance Committee chairperson on the parish council. |
